Science also refers to a system of acquiring knowledge. This system uses observation and experimentation to describe and explain natural phenomena. The term science also refers to the organized body of knowledge people have gained using that system. Therefore the Science is related with all subjects available in universe. Young Scientists University is to honor all extraordinary people who contribute new knowledge to the world.
We live in an extraordinary Universe with a myriad of galaxies and heavenly vistas beyond comprehension. The incredible diversity and complexity of life on Earth, the sheer tenacity of life to survive, the wonderful beauty of nature, we are filled with a sense of awe.
From poetic insights to deeper spiritual penetration, we have grappled with the mystery of its creation and the very existence itself. We study the emergence of life on Earth, how asteroid impacts, volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, fire, droughts, disease, starvation, ice ages, all threaten to extinguish that life.
Science has also come a long way in its inquiries and scientific method to help us find answers and attempt to explain such complex diverse issues that confront humanity.
By the very definition science is "knowledge attained through study or practice," or "knowledge covering general truths of the operation of general laws, esp. as obtained and tested through scientific method concerned with the physical world."
However we must not overlook the reality that our understanding of the universe is restricted to the three physical dimensions that we happen to exist in, plus of course the dimension of time. Many theories strongly indicate that there are many more dimensions in the universe. Perhaps with an understanding of these other dimensions it will all make sense. Perhaps not. Probably not.
Therefore we must realize that even though everything in the universe is in some way a science, science is unable to provide all explanation relating to aspects of existence. In fact there is no reason to believe that science will be able to explain everything.
Yet science helps us to organize our knowledge and ask penetrating questions to make this a better place to live in. We believe that reductionism does not provide all answers. The reality is more dynamic and complex which needs a deeper appreciation of realities that would make it virtually impossible to make sense without a holistic world view.
Sometimes it would be beneficial to differentiate pure science from applied science, which is the application of research to human needs. Fields of science are commonly classified along two major lines:
